It’s Official… We Won Best Art Gallery!
Long time, no post! We have some amazing news and updates! Last month, we won the Muddy Stilettos Award for Best Art Gallery in Sussex! We faced stiff competition from some amazing galleries across Sussex, and it’s such an honour to have been voted (by you!) as the Best Art Gallery in Sussex.
In 2022 we made it our aim to win an award, and we’re so pleased we’ve done it! Last week we went to pick up our certificate, and it will soon be on display in the Gallery for all to see!
This award comes as we approach the third anniversary of the opening of the Gallery, and we’ve been reflecting on our journey. It hasn’t all been plain sailing. The Gallery looked a lot different when we first moved in; back in 2020 the building was in a bit of a sorry state. It hadn’t been occupied in quite some time, which gave it a kind of abandoned feeling. Since we moved in we’ve worked hard to rejuvenate the space.
It started as a big empty space containing just sawdust and mould. We spent days(!) cleaning it before putting up white sheeting and our own walls and lighting to show off the artwork. In the early days the Gallery functioned just as a showroom for viewing the artwork, but over time it evolved into a shop complete with reception area, Two Faced Twins signage and homeware range.
Fast forward three years and it’s now a colourful hub of activity that enjoys a steady flow of visitors. Our seaside location is a real gift and, having been born and raised in Worthing, we couldn’t think of a better place for our Gallery than at the heart and soul of the town. The Gallery continues to develop as we do, and we’re really excited for what the future holds. We are so grateful for the support of all of the people that visit the Gallery. Regular clients, first-time buyers, and window shoppers alike have all helped to make the Gallery what it currently is, so thank you all!
Each year we put on a summer event, and this year the event will be an opportunity to celebrate winning this award in addition to the Gallery’s third anniversary. There will be live saxophone music, bubbly and snacks as we unveil four new pieces of artwork alongside new homeware designs.
As a special gift, we will also be hand-signing black and white mini-prints to anyone who has bought our artwork in the past (or who buys our artwork at the event!). All the while, there will be a brief history of the Two Faced Twins dotted around the Gallery as we reflect on the past three years of this magnificent journey.
So come join us at this very special summer event on the 28th July at 7pm (reserve your spot here). We look forward to seeing you there!
